Note To Self 1: Target OS

This I hope will be a weekly observational cartoon. Not necessarily computer centric, although I already have some other ideas about the Mac/Linux/Windows comparisons.

A more truthful view is to picture the persons targeting the audiences. Wanting to contact the largest number of the most gullible people, they focus on the “114,000 Microsoft Malware Virus Definitions” users!

The majority of spammers and bot owners are motivated financially, Any computer running Microsoft, that is NOT behind a HARDWARE FIREWALL, is pwned. The FBI is sending those million owners of pwned Microsoft computers, whom thay can find, messages to shut them down, totally wipe and reload the system.

Recommended to run one of the FREE Live 315 OSes at http://livecdlist.com

Also, the *BSDs, the closed source Mac OS (running the neXt Mach1 kernel), and the 800+ Open Source *BSDs, GNU/Linux systems are so difficult to get into, that it takes more staff years to try and succeed, than is possible for the criminals.

Yes, they have been trying since 1984, and failed. Still, it is wise to run a separate hardware firewall, or IPCOP.org box!

Thanks for the soap box. Could you illustrate that?

This is of course true. even though all techies know this, this cartoon will depict the real scenario to common people who thinks Windows is something great. People should know the the stability and value of Mac and Linux.

  8. Nick Says:

It’s not only the fact that windows is targeted more because they are popular. Linux and Mac’s POSIX user system and memory management mean that it is harder to implement viruses (as long as the user is not too cavalier with sudo).
